Frank Yang I don’t spend nearly as much time in the clubs scouting out new local acts as I used to – and relative to some who do this, I never spent that much time on that beat anyways – but last Thursday night at The Boat, I was reminded of what I liked and disliked about it. The “dislike” basically comes down to set times that always run at least a half hour and more likely an hour.

Nausea is a grower but a couple songs stand-out on first listen: "Komerabi" has gorgeous strings that remind me of Jim Guthrie's much overlooked Now More Than Ever, "Changing Faces" sounds ripped directly off a b-side from Nocturne (a good thing), "Twirl" has a real nice jangle-pop hook, and "Laughing for My Life" is one of the prettiest songs.

Jun 14,  · Owen Pallett is a tremendously gifted multi-instrumentalist, composer, and singer who currently lives in Montreal. Pallett was initially acclaimed for his string arrangements for artists like Jim Guthrie, Arcade Fire, Fucked Up, and many others and, particularly when he lived there, he was viewed as a true leader and champion of Toronto’s underground arts community.
